As assaults against the Jewish people continue to shake the Jewish world, Reach Initiative International, a ministry founded many years ago by Rabbi Stewart and Chantal Winograd, seems to always appear at the center of the conflict, whether it’s in Israel, the Ukraine, Belarus, India or other parts of the world. The Winograds display to the world, through their actions, the Jewish custom known as Tikkun Olam, meaning ‘repairing the world.’ Repairing the world includes tzedakah, Hebrew for charity; demonstrating gemilut hasadiim, meaning ‘acts of kindness;’ fixing what is wrong with the world, a perfect description of the hearts of Rabbi Stewart and Chantal. The Winograds answered the call of G-d over thirty years ago, leaving the comforts of American life behind in order to help mend the hearts of the Jewish people worldwide both physically and spiritually, settling first in the country of Belarus.
