This is an exciting year for Rabbi Calev (Cal) Goldberg and Congregation Beth Shechinah in Calgary, Canada. The congregation celebrated its 30-year anniversary after Passover this year. In celebration of this amazing milestone, they showed a video of the past years with special presentations of Messianic worship, dance and a special oneg following their regular Shabbat service. Both Christian ministries and Jewish organizations shared tributes. Over the years, Rabbi Cal has developed long-standing and excellent relationships with leaders from around the city that took part in the joyous celebration.
Cal Goldberg’s upbringing played a major part in the path that G-d had chosen for him. His mother was raised in an Orthodox Jewish home in Detroit, Michigan. After she met and married his father, a Canadian, the family moved to Canada. When his parents divorced, he was raised by his Jewish mother in Canada, where he still resides today. Goldberg attended business college in Edmonton and trained to be a hotel manager, working in that industry for a little over a year. Even though it seemed he had found a plan for his life, he still searched for two years, looking for purpose and meaning in his life. Cal had no idea how his life was going to change that working in the hotel business was not part of G-d’s plan.
