On May 14th in 1948, the declaration of the state of Israel fulfilled His promise that the Jewish nation would be re-born in a day. Because of overwhelming odds against them, most of the world did not expect Israel to survive to birth, but G-d was in the details. For over one hundred years prior to Israel’s Independence Day, the G-d of Israel was forming the Jewish state in the womb. He used Gentile Christians in divinely appointed places of influence and timing to lay the foundations solidly for that grand moment when David Ben-Gurion would read to the world that the Jewish homeland was back.
Yom Ha’atzmaut: Those Who Helped Israel Be Born in a Day

Through the prophet Isaiah, G-d asks a rhetorical question, “Can a nation be born in a day…?” Answering Himself with another question, “Shall I bring a baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?’ says the L-rd.” (Isaiah 66:8-9) This is but one of many promises to Israel that G-d declared His intention to restore them from exile and restore them to relationship with Himself spiritually.
